Compared to other public spaces, libraries often have strict rules of use, which can make them feel intimidating or uncomfortable for some people. However, the books that fill a library hold such a wide range of knowledge and worlds that they allow users to experience freedom of imagination and expand their thinking — making the strict rules seem irrelevant.
Through this project, children were able to experience the library not as a quiet, cautious place but as a free and exciting space where imagination and ideas come alive. They explored the library with fresh perspectives and senses, then created pop-up zines to introduce “their own” version of the library.
